Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an in-person program designed to improve parent-child (caregiver) relationships and address behavioral and emotional issues for children from 2-6 years of age. The average length of the program is about 16-24 weeks.
By reinforcing positive behaviors, parents learn strategies to manage and reduce challenging behaviors in their children, such as defiance, tantrums, and noncompliance. Through participation in PCIT sessions, parents are not only able to build their confidence, but also enhance their child’s self-esteem by focusing on positive interactions.
PCIT is for families with young children ages 2-6 years of age, experiencing behavioral and/or emotional difficulties due to a variety of reasons, including trauma.
